And here's what surprised me most:
It doesn't just happen to older dogs.
Yes, dogs naturally lose 7-10% of collagen yearly after age two.
But certain things can accelerate the breakdown:
→ Genetics (some breeds are born with weaker barriers)
→ Repeated antibiotic use
→ Chronic stress
→ Over-bathing or harsh shampoos
→ Environmental toxins
→ Poor diet or malabsorption
This is why some 2 or 3-year-old dogs already have chronic skin issues.
They're not "just unlucky."
Their barrier broke down faster than normal.
Daisy was only 4 when this started.
